The Tycho Brahe Planetarium holds many of the expressive elements that characterizes much of Knud Munk’s architecture; the significant use of multicoloured and patterned masonry, curved lines and round windows. The laying of the foundation stone of the postmodern project of the planetarium took place on carefully chosen date, February 22, 1988, where the two planets, Mars and Uranus, were in a rare close conjunction. The planet Mars played a major part in Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe's important work with determination of positions, and the name of the planet Uranus originates from the ancient Greek deity Uranos, the personification of the sky. By swearing in these two heavenly bodies, the foundation stone was placed in the floor in the middle of the big cylinder brick stone building.
